Why people look for a SocialPilot alternative
SocialPilot is a cloud scheduler for agencies and small teams. It publishes to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, Threads, TikTok, Pinterest, YouTube, Google Business Profile and Bluesky, with a content calendar, bulk scheduling, client approval and white-label reports on the higher plans. For an agency running many client accounts, the price per account is low.
People leave it for three reasons. The entry price: Essentials is $30 a month for 7 accounts and one user, and there is no free plan to fall back on. The team features they never use: client approval and white-label reports sit on plans that cost $100 to $200 a month. And Facebook groups: SocialPilot cannot post into groups you joined, because no cloud tool can.
The best SocialPilot alternatives in 2026
Each of these replaces SocialPilot for a different reason. The prices are each vendor’s lowest paid plan, with the date checked in the table further down.
- Buffer: the simplest cheap switch. A free plan for 3 channels with 10 queued posts each, then $5 per channel a month billed yearly ($6 monthly). Fewer team features than SocialPilot.
- Publer: a free plan for 3 accounts, bulk and CSV scheduling, and paid plans from about $5 per account a month. Close to SocialPilot on publishing for less money.
- Post Planner: for people who run out of things to post. It suggests content and recycles evergreen posts; free for 1 account, paid from $9 a month billed yearly.
- Hootsuite: a larger platform with monitoring, an inbox and reporting, from $99 a month billed yearly. More than most SocialPilot users need, and the usual step up for bigger teams.
- Sprout Social: the reporting and shared-inbox specialist. Its Essentials plan is $79 per seat a month billed yearly ($99 monthly), and the full plans run $199 to $399 per seat.
- Meta Business Suite: free, made by Meta, for Facebook Pages and Instagram only. If those are your only two networks, it replaces SocialPilot at no cost.
- MultiGroupPoster: not a scheduler like the others. It is a Chrome extension that posts into the Facebook groups you joined, which SocialPilot and every tool above cannot do.
SocialPilot and Facebook groups
SocialPilot connects to Facebook through Meta’s official API. That API lost the publish_to_groups permission on 22 April 2024, and even before that it never reached groups where you are only a member. So SocialPilot publishes to Facebook Pages and stops there, and so do Buffer, Publer, Post Planner, Hootsuite and Sprout Social. See what the Groups API removal changed.
If your buyers are in Facebook groups, the post has to go out from your own logged-in browser. MultiGroupPoster does that: one post to a saved list of groups, different wording per group with Spintax, pauses between posts and a result for every group. Many people keep a scheduler for their Page and other networks and use MultiGroupPoster for groups. The head-to-head is on SocialPilot vs MultiGroupPoster.

Where each one wins
Where MultiGroupPoster wins
- Posts to the Facebook groups you joined, which SocialPilot cannot do.
- Costs $9.99 a month against $30 for SocialPilot’s entry plan, with 6 free posts to try first.
- Spintax and Image Sets give each group its own wording and photos, with a result for every group.
Where SocialPilot wins
- Covers ten networks; MultiGroupPoster covers Facebook only.
- Runs in the cloud, so posts go out with your computer off; MultiGroupPoster needs Chrome open.
- Client approval, team roles and white-label reports, which MultiGroupPoster does not have.
- Analytics for Pages and profiles; MultiGroupPoster only reports whether each post went out.

- Let it scan the groups you belong to, or import a CSV or Excel list of group links, then run a small campaign to a few groups first.
Frequently asked questions
Can SocialPilot post to Facebook groups I joined?
No. SocialPilot publishes from its own servers through Meta's official API, and that API never covered groups you merely joined; Meta removed group publishing for third-party apps altogether in April 2024. Reaching those groups takes a browser extension that posts from your own logged-in session.
What are the best SocialPilot alternatives?
For a cheaper scheduler, Buffer and Publer, both with free plans. For content ideas, Post Planner. For larger teams, Hootsuite and Sprout Social. For Facebook Pages and Instagram only, the free Meta Business Suite. For Facebook groups you joined, none of these work; MultiGroupPoster, a Chrome extension at $9.99 a month, is the one that posts there.
Who are SocialPilot’s main competitors?
Other cloud schedulers: Buffer, Publer, Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Later, SocialBee and Post Planner, plus Meta Business Suite for Facebook and Instagram. All of them publish to Pages through Meta’s API, and none can post into Facebook groups since Meta removed that permission on 22 April 2024.
Is there a free alternative to SocialPilot?
Yes. SocialPilot has no free plan, only a 14-day trial. Buffer (3 channels), Publer (3 accounts) and Post Planner (1 account) have free plans, and Meta Business Suite is free for Facebook Pages and Instagram. MultiGroupPoster gives 6 free posts to try group posting.
How much does SocialPilot cost?
As of 23 October 2026: Essentials $30 a month or $25.50 billed yearly, Standard $50 or $42.50, Premium $100 or $85, and Ultimate $200 or $170, plus custom Enterprise pricing. Extra accounts cost $4 a month each. Plans start with a 14-day free trial.
Can SocialPilot post to Facebook groups?
No. SocialPilot publishes through Meta’s official API, which lost group publishing on 22 April 2024 and never reached groups you only joined. It posts to Facebook Pages. To post into groups you joined, you need a browser extension that posts from your own session, such as MultiGroupPoster.
How hard is it to switch from SocialPilot?
Decide what you used SocialPilot for: Pages and other networks, or reaching groups. For Pages and other networks, start the free plan of Buffer or Publer, or the free Meta Business Suite, and move your queued posts before SocialPilot renews. For groups, install MultiGroupPoster and sign in with Google; no Facebook password is involved. Let it scan the groups you belong to, or import a CSV or Excel list of group links, then run a small campaign to a few groups first.
Will either tool get my Facebook account restricted?
Neither tool changes what Facebook flags — pacing and content variation do. Randomized pauses of a few minutes after every few posts, 50–100 posts a day on an account older than twelve months, varied text per group and media attached is the safe range with any tool. Aggressive settings will flag an account regardless of which tool produced them.
