# How to Repost on Facebook: Profile, Page, Reels (2026)

Quick answer

To repost on Facebook, tap Share under the post. Choose Share now to put it on your profile, Share to Feed to add a line above it, or pick a Page you manage, a group or your story, and tap Post. Facebook has no Repost button in 2026. If there is no Share button, the author limited the post’s audience.

Key takeaways

- On Facebook, reposting means the Share button. There is no separate Repost button as of October 2026.
- Share now posts instantly to your profile. Share to Feed opens the composer so you can add your own line first.
- The same menu shares to a Page you manage, a group, a friend's profile, your story or Messenger.
- A repost starts with zero likes and comments. The original keeps its engagement.
- No Share button means the author limited the audience. You cannot repost it, only ask or credit.
- To repost your own post for more reach, publish it again as a new post rather than sharing the old card.

## Repost to your profile (app and computer)

Every repost on Facebook goes through the Share button, whether the post is yours or someone else’s. Instagram got its own Repost button in 2025; Facebook still has none in October 2026.

In the Facebook app (iPhone or Android):

1. Find the post in your feed, on a Page or on someone’s profile.
2. Tap Share under the post.
3. Tap Share now to post it straight away, or tap the text box (or Write post) to add a line above it first.
4. Check the audience under your name (Public or Friends) and tap Post.

On a computer at facebook.com:

1. Click Share under the post.
2. Choose Share now (Public or Friends) or Share to Feed.
3. With Share to Feed, write a line above the post and click Post.

The menu wording moves a little between app versions, but the choices are the same.

| Where you want the repost | What to pick after tapping Share | Can you add text? |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Your profile, right away | Share now | No |
| Your profile, with a comment | Share to Feed (or tap the text box) | Yes |
| A Page you manage | Share to a Page, or switch to the Page first | Yes |
| A group you joined | Group, then pick the group | Yes |
| A friend’s profile | Share on a friend’s profile | Yes |
| Your story | Share to your story | Stickers and text |
| One person | Send in Messenger | Yes, as a message |

## Repost as a Page you manage

To repost on behalf of a business Page, tap Share and choose Share to a Page, then pick the Page. If that option is missing, switch into the Page first: tap your profile picture, choose the Page, and use Share from there. The post then appears on the Page’s feed with the original attached and the Page’s name on top.

If what you actually want is to put new posts on a Page every day, sharing by hand is the slow way. Meta Business Suite schedules Page posts for free, and our guide to [Facebook Page auto post](https://multiplegroupposter.com/blog/facebook-page-auto-post/) compares it with Zapier, Make and the paid schedulers.

## Repost into a group

Tap Share, choose Group (on a computer, Share to a group), pick the group from the list, add a line of context and tap Post. If the group has post approval on, the repost waits for an admin before anyone sees it. Only public posts can be shared into a group; a friends-only post will not offer the option.

Groups have their own rules about reposting: how often is too often, whether to share the old post or write a fresh one, and how admins react to the same link in many groups. Those are covered in detail in [how to repost in Facebook groups](https://multiplegroupposter.com/blog/how-to-repost-in-facebook-groups/), which also shows the step-by-step for resharing into a group.

## Repost your own old post

You have three ways to bring back something you published earlier:

1. Share it again. Open the post on your profile, tap Share and choose Share now or Share to Feed. It lands at the top of your profile as a linked copy.
2. Use Memories. If the post went out on this date in an earlier year, Facebook shows it under Memories (search “Memories” in the app menu). Tap Share there to repost it with a note.
3. Publish it as a new post. Copy the text, re-attach the photo or video, and post it fresh. This takes a minute longer, but a new post usually reaches more people than a shared card, and it can carry an update.

Sometimes a repost is not needed at all. If the post is only a few days old and still has comments, a useful new comment brings it back up; [how to bump a post in a Facebook group](https://multiplegroupposter.com/blog/bump-post-in-facebook-group/) explains when that works better than posting it twice.

## Repost a Reel, a video or a story

A Reel or video has the same Share button (on Reels it sits on the right side of the screen). Tap it, then choose Share to Feed, your story, a group or Messenger. The repost plays the original video and credits the creator.

A story is different. You can only add someone else’s story to your own story when they tagged you in it: open the notification or the message Facebook sends, and tap Add to story. A story you were not tagged in cannot be added to your own.

If you want to repost a photo or video that has no Share button, do not download and re-upload it as your own. Ask the creator, or share it with credit only when they agree.

## Why some posts have no Share button

A missing Share button almost always means the author limited who can see the post. Facebook only lets you share a post with people who were already allowed to see it, so:

- A post set to Friends or a custom list shows no Share option to most people.
- A post in a private group cannot be shared outside that group.

Nothing on your side changes that. Ask the author to change the audience, or copy the information into your own words and credit them.

## Share or post again: which to use

Both count as a repost, but they do different things:

| | Share button | Posting it again as new |
| --- | --- | --- |
| What appears | A card that links back to the original | A normal post with your text and media |
| Credit to the author | Automatic | Only if you write it |
| Starting likes and comments | Zero | Zero |
| Typical reach | Lower than a native post | Usually higher |
| Best for | Someone else’s post, giving credit | Your own content, when you want it seen |
| Effort | Two taps | Copy, paste, re-attach the media |

Use Share for other people’s posts, so they get the credit. For your own content, posting it fresh is usually the better repost. The same choice across many groups at once is compared in [share or copy to Facebook groups](https://multiplegroupposter.com/blog/share-or-copy-facebook-groups/).

## Reposting to many groups

Facebook’s Share menu takes one destination at a time. Reposting a single post into ten groups means opening the menu ten times, and cloud schedulers such as Buffer or Hootsuite cannot help, because Meta removed group publishing from its API on 22 April 2024.

A browser extension that runs in your own logged-in session can do the repetitive part. [MultiGroupPoster](https://multiplegroupposter.com/facebook-auto-poster/) can share one existing post to a list of groups you joined, or publish a fresh version with different wording in each group, with pauses between posts and a result for every group. The walkthrough is [how to share one Facebook post to multiple groups](https://multiplegroupposter.com/blog/how-to-share-one-facebook-post-to-multiple-groups/). Keep it to groups whose rules allow it, and space the posts out: the same post in many groups within minutes is what Facebook’s spam filters look for, and no tool can promise a run will never be limited.

## FAQ

**How do I repost something on Facebook?** Tap Share under the post. Choose Share now to put it straight on your profile, or Share to Feed to write a line above it first, then tap Post. The same menu shares to a Page you manage, a group, a friend’s profile, your story or Messenger.

**Does Facebook have a repost button?** Not a separate one, as of October 2026. Reposting on Facebook is done with the Share button. Instagram added a Repost button in 2025; Facebook did not.

**Why can’t I repost a post on Facebook?** If there is no Share button, the author limited who can see the post, or it sits in a private group. Ask the author, or write your own post and credit them.

**How do I repost my own old post on Facebook?** Open it on your profile and tap Share, or find it under Memories if it was posted on this date in an earlier year. For more reach, publish it again as a new post.

**Does a repost keep the original likes and comments?** No. A shared post starts with none of its own. The original keeps its engagement, and people can click through to it.

**Can I repost one post to several Facebook groups at once?** Not with Facebook’s own tools, which take one group at a time. A browser extension in your own session, such as MultiGroupPoster, can share it to a list of groups you joined, with pauses and a result per group. See [how to repost in Facebook groups](https://multiplegroupposter.com/blog/how-to-repost-in-facebook-groups/) for the group rules first.
